This prestigious role will suit a highly regarded academic and clinician who is passionate about advancing midwifery research education and evidence-based practice through strong clinical- academic collaboration.
The appointee will provide strategic leadership across Griffith University and Gold Coast Health fostering excellence in research teaching policy development and clinical practice. You will work closely with midwifery nursing and medical leaders researchers staff and students to deliver world-class outcomes that directly influence care delivery.
As a joint appointee you will:
- Provide senior academic and clinical leadership in midwifery research scholarship and practice across both organisations.
- Lead and conduct world-class externally funded research that advances midwifery knowledge and improves health outcomes.
- Translate research into evidence-based clinical practice policy development and workforce capability building.
- Strengthen collaborative research partnerships between clinicians academics and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to teaching and supervision at undergraduate honours and higher degree research levels.
- Maintain a strong and visible clinical presence influencing practice within multidisciplinary teams at GCHHS.
- Support the strategic priorities of both Griffith University and Gold Coast Health.
- Promote compliance with research ethics governance health and safety and professional standards.
This role carries significant responsibility for shaping the future of midwifery research education and practice at both a local and international level.
What we offer
This is a fixed-term five-year appointment jointly funded and supported by Griffith University and Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service.
Salary Range
The full-time base salary for an Associate Professor (level D) is in the range of $167008 - $183992 per annum 17% superannuation. The total FTE package for level D will be in the range $195399 - $215270 per annum.
The full-time base salary for a Professor (level E) is $215130 per annum 17% superannuation. The total FTE package fpr level E will be $251702 per annum.
Qualifications :
To be successful you will demonstrate sustained excellence and leadership in midwifery.
You will have:
- A doctoral qualification or equivalent accreditation and standing in Midwifery.
- Current registration with AHPRA or the ability to obtain registration with AHPRA as a Registered Midwife (to be maintained for the duration of the appointment).
- An extensive and successful track record of externally funded competitive research including supervision of HDR students.
- Evidence of international recognition through original innovative and distinguished contributions to midwifery research and practice.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary research teams and influence clinical practice and policy.
Mandatory Health Requirements
This role is subject to Queensland Health employment conditions. As such successful applicants must:
- Comply with mandatory vaccination requirements (Health Employment Directive No. 01/16).
- Undertake tuberculosis screening in accordance with Queensland Health protocols (for new GCHHS employees).
