At CGI we support Defence organisations to modernise assure and strengthen mission-critical systems that protect national interests. As a Defence Architecture contractor you will play a key role in uplifting and aligning technical documentation for a high-priority Defence programme ensuring it accurately reflects the current as-built environment and meets rigorous governance standards. Working closely with experienced practitioners you will bring clarity ownership and structure to complex architectural artefacts enabling confident assurance compliance and decision-making within a secure and highly regulated environment.
In this short-term engagement you will take responsibility for reviewing and uplifting existing Detailed Design (DD) and High-Level Design (HLD) documentation ensuring alignment with the current as-built environment and the VDC System Specification. You will work across two operational sites collaborating closely with internal subject matter experts to validate technical accuracy and ensure consistency across all artefacts.
You will also ensure all documentation is audit-ready and compliant with Defence architecture governance applying strong judgement and structure to deliver clear defensible outputs within a fast-paced timeframe.
Key responsibilities:
> Review & Uplift: Assess and update DD and HLD documentation to reflect the as-built environment.
>Align & Assure: Ensure alignment with VDC System Specifications and Defence governance standards.
>Validate & Collaborate: Work with internal SMEs to confirm technical accuracy and completeness.
>Govern & Document: Produce clear auditable architecture artefacts suitable for assurance activities.
>Deliver & Enable: Drive outcomes efficiently across multiple sites within a short engagement window.
You will be a senior-level architect with strong Defence experience able to quickly understand complex environments and deliver high-quality governance-aligned documentation. You should be comfortable operating independently while collaborating effectively with technical and stakeholder teams.
Essential qualifications and experience:
> Proven experience in Defence architecture governance and assurance.
>Demonstrated delivery of audit-ready DD and HLD documentation.
>Ability to rapidly assess complex technical environments and drive outcomes.
>Strong communication skills and confidence engaging with senior stakeholders.
>NV2 clearance preferred (NV1 may be considered for exceptional candidates).
