Job Summary
Lathe Operator & Shop Technician
Role Summary
Seeking a hands-on Lathe Operator / Shop Technician to support turning operations and general shop duties. This role involves working with manual machinery maintaining shop operations and assisting with light mechanical and administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate manual machine tools including lathe mill grinders (ID/OD surface) and cut-off saw
- Work within tight precision tolerances (up to 0.0002)
- Cut steel and prepare materials for machining
- Perform minor mechanical assembly and part balancing
- Build shipping crates and support shop logistics
- Maintain shop floor cleanliness and equipment upkeep
- Perform basic documentation and shop-related administrative tasks
- Read and interpret measurements using precision tools
Required Skills & Experience

Strong mechanical aptitude
Ability to read and measure using micrometers calipers and gauges
- Basic math skills for calculating dimensions and tolerances
- Experience in measuring inspecting and testing parts for quality and accuracy
Additional Skills (Preferred)

Knowledge of lubrication and cooling processes for machining

Ability to clean and maintain machines tools and equipment
