DescriptionThe Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is responsible for managing the psychiatric services and the overall psychiatric care and treatment of assigned clients. The NP will work with clients of IHCs Programs including children and adults with a primary focus on children in IHCs Intensive Treatment Residence (ITR) and Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). The NP works closely with the treatment team and attends regular meetings to stay informed of all areas of clients treatment. The NP will provide ongoing psychiatric assessment and medication treatment. The NP will ensure treatment practices are in line with regulatory requirements and licensure. The NP will commit to providing the highest quality of care to IHCs clients.

Qualifications- Provide psychiatric assessment and ongoing medication treatment to assigned caseload of clients
- Must hold the credentials to prescribe medications to children and adults
- Attend team meetings and consult regularly with clinicians other prescribers nursing parents/guardians and other members of the individuals treatment team
- Complete required paperwork and progress notes in a timely manner
- Keep detailed and accurate documentation of interventions with clients
- Participate with the multidisciplinary team in the development/review of treatment planning and case assignment
- Communicate with collaterals at other agencies including the Department of Children and Families (DCF) regarding client treatment and needs
- Provide on-call coverage for clients and vacation coverage for other prescribers clients
- Respond to emergency situations with clients and families
- Attend agency required meetings and complete all agency assigned trainings
- Apply and enforce policy and regulations
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Masters Degree in Nursing
- Valid and current Nurse Practitioner license
- A minimum of 2 years experience providing psychopharmacology management to children adolescents and adults with significant trauma histories
- Ability to understand and implement agency treatment philosophy
- Commitment to highest quality of care
- Creative thoughtful and able to make good decisions quickly in crisis situations
- Strong ability to accept and give critical feedback
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Familiarity with electronic medical record keeping
- Consistent and strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and adhere to deadlines
- Maintains calm and can perform in a stressful and fast paced environment
- Flexibility in action thinking and scheduling
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Skilled in working independently to carry out department and agency objectives
- Commitment to maintaining a state of the art knowledge base
