Job Summary

Position Summary

The faculty member shall be responsible for the following: teaching assigned classes under the supervision of the area dean; helping students fulfill their maximum potential in mastering course content; assessing student learning outcomes; maintaining a thorough and up-to-date knowledge in their regular teaching field; continuing professional development; utilizing current technology in the performance of job duties; maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position; assisting with articulation and curriculum development and review; serving on college committees and participating in faculty governance including accreditation and student co-curricular activities; assuming other responsibilities as assigned by the area dean; fulfilling other duties and responsibilities of a full-time faculty member.

  • Demonstrated ability to teach and support students from diverse academic socioeconomic ethnic neurodivergent LGBTQIA and multilingual backgrounds.
  • Willingness to examine and adjust instructional practices to more effectively engage and support racially minoritized students.
  • Knowledge experience and application of pedagogical approaches that address a wide range of developmental and neurological differences for young children.
  • Knowledge of effective practices for supporting second-language learners multilingual families and linguistically diverse communities.
  • Experience integrating trauma-informed and culturally sustaining pedagogies.
  • Ability to collaborate with community partners serving diverse early learning birth8 and family support programs.
  • Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development related to equity antiracism and cultural humility.



Position Salary Information:
Initial maximum salary placement is based on academic degree upper/graduate level units earned and/or related professional occupational experience per the Los Rios College Federation of Teachers Contract(the initial maximum placement is Class V Step 8). Typical Duties

The instructional assignment may include but is not limited to teaching the following courses:

  • ECE 320 (Curriculum and Interactions in Early Childhood Education)
  • ECE 321 (Advanced Practicum in Early Childhood Education)
  • ECE 350 (Introduction to Elementary Teaching with Field Experience)
  • ECE 430 (Culture and Diversity in Early Childhood Education)

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Masters in child development early childhood education human development home economics/ family and consumer studies with a specialization in child development/early childhood education or educational psychology with a specialization in child development/early childhood education OR Bachelors in any of the above AND Masters in social work educational supervision elementary education special education psychology bilingual/bicultural education life management/home economics family life studies or family and consumer studies OR the equivalent. All degrees must be from an accredited institution completed by August 20 2026.
  2. Have an equity-minded focus responsiveness and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic socioeconomic cultural disability gender identity sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles; and successfully foster and support an inclusive educational and employment environment.

Transcript Requirements:
  • Transcripts must be from an accredited U.S. institutions or approved foreign evaluation agency.
  • Foreign transcript evaluations must be issued by an AICE (Association of International Credential Evaluation Inc.) or NACES (National Association of Credential Evaluation Services) member agency. See the Foreign Transcript Evaluation webpage for details.
  • Transcripts mustclearly identify the degree(s) being used to meet the Minimum Qualifications.
  • If more than one degree is required to meet the Minimum Qualifications (e.g. a bachelors and a masters) transcripts for each degree must be included.
