In this role you will be responsible for translating medical records into standardized codes for billing and insurance purposes. Responsibilities
- Review and analyze medical records to ensure accurate coding
- Assign appropriate codes for diagnoses procedures and services
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and coding guidelines
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to clarify documentation
- Resolve discrepancies and address coding-related queries
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding updates and revisions
- Prepare reports and documentation for auditing purposes
- Assist in training and mentoring junior coding staff
Requirements
- Certification as a Medical Coder (e.g. CPC CCS or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and coding systems
- Proficiency in ICD-10 CPT and HCPCS coding
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities
