Our Center for Digital Safety & Security located in Vienna invites applications for an the Center for Digital Safety & Security we develop state-of-the-art information and communication technologies to ensure that our systems are highly secure and reliable in the context of comprehensive digitalisation and global networking.

Our experts from the Competence Unit Cooperative Digital Technologies work on the development of data-based IT solutions for various application scenarios including the design of new and innovative solutions supporting communities in increasing their resilience and achieving their sustainable development goals (SDG). As a reliable partner of industry and public authorities we work on digital tools for a sustainable and resilient society based on current research results and in collaboration with end users and our customers.

The focus of our applications is on safety-relevant sensor systems for railways and roads.

Internship Data Analytics for Critical Infrastructure Monitoring

CENTER FOR DIGITAL SAFETY & SECURITY

  • You are part of an interdisciplinary team and contribute to setting up expanding and improving our efforts to ensure the safety of critical rail and road infrastructures.
  • You are contributing to the continuous improvement of our solutions for the implementation of new safety-relevant distributed fibre optic sensor technologies for rail and road infrastructures.
  • Under the guidance of our team you will get insights into research and learn how to develop data processing and scalable machine learning methods for the entire processing chain - from data acquisition and analysis to information extraction and interactive user-friendly result presentation.
  • You support us in our international projects and get exciting insights into our technological environment.
  • You will have not only the opportunity to discuss your work experiences and results with experienced scientific peers but also to connect with other bachelors masters or PhD students.

Your qualifications as an Ingenious Partner:

  • Ongoing masters studies in the field of computer science mathematics physics or similar at an Austrian University
  • Programming knowledge in Python Software Testing (experience with Robot framework is a plus)
  • Experience with machine learning and data visualization techniques and libraries
  • Background of signal processing or interferometry is a plus
  • Ability to work in a team flexibility and commitment
  • Particular interest in applied research and in solving practical problems
  • Good verbal and written English skills German skills would be a plus

What to expect:

  • Duration of the internship: minimum 2 months
  • Start date: summer 2026 However there is some flexibility concerning the start-date
  • A remuneration of EUR 1.415-- gross per month for 38.5 hours per addition to our company benefits we offer flexible working conditions and work experience in a highly innovative environment.
