Part-time Permanent Start ASAP
We are supporting an inclusive primary setting to recruit a SEND Teaching Assistant to work within an Early Years provision supporting children with autism ADHD and social emotional and mental health needs.
This is a hands-on role for someone who is calm compassionate and confident supporting pupils with complex learning and care needs in a nurturing structured environment.
The Role
You will provide 1:1 and small-group support to children with SEND helping them access learning through play while developing communication emotional regulation and independence.
The role includes personal care responsibilities and close collaboration with teaching staff and wider professionals.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Support children with autism and SEMH needs on a 1:1 and small-group basis
Assist with Individual Education Plans behaviour support plans and care plans
Support communication social interaction and emotional regulation
Promote independence and positive learning behaviours
Provide personal care where required (toileting feeding hygiene)
Support learning through play in line with EYFS
Use positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques
Observe record and report on pupil progress
Support transitions and daily routines
Maintain a safe inclusive and nurturing environment
Adhere to safeguarding health & safety and confidentiality procedures
Essential Skills & Experience
Experience supporting children with SEND
Experience working with autism ADHD and/or SEMH
Willingness and confidence to provide personal care
Calm patient and nurturing approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
Desirable Experience
Early Years or EYFS experience
Experience working with complex needs
Behaviour support or de-escalation training
Experience implementing care or behaviour plans
