We are seekingan inspired intellectually curious and mission drivenGenetic Counselorto be an integral part of thelongevityprecision medicine careteam. This individual will provide domainexpertisein genetic counseling for whole genome sequencing. As part of the multidisciplinary team this individual will also provide empathic personalized care toclients throughout their experience including a warm welcome supportive clinical care for the duration of the evaluation and ensure an unparalleled care experience.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Medical Directordisclosegenomic results to client and providegenetic counseling forclientsincludingeducation a comprehensive risk assessment psychological support
Daily interactions withphysiciansandclientsto provide pre and/or post-test genetic counseling for allclient types across specialties
Assistwith coordination and communication of client genomic information among the care team
Contribute to thevariant curation clinical genomic reportwriting and reviewing
Assistwith the development of educational applications and tools
Helpfacilitateappropriate referralsand anyadditionalgenetic tests
Work collaboratively with the care team todeterminenext steps based on genomic results
Maintain positive work relationships with other technologists practitionersphysiciansand staff
Contribute to phenotype data collection follow-up with clients safetymonitoringand adherence to IRB protocols
Minimum Qualifications (Must have)
Masters degree in Genetic Counseling from an accredited program or graduate degree in a related field
Experience working directly with patientsand physicians
Certification by the American Board of Genetic Counseling or American Board of Medical Genetics.
Must hold current Genetic Counselor Licensein the state of California
Experience in Oncology Cardiac and/orbehavioral sciencesgenetics specialties preferred
Maintains patient confidentiality and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential and following HIPAA practices
Preferred Qualifications
Previousexperience providing genetic counseling for patients/research participants undergoing whole-genome sequencing.
3 years experience in genetic counseling post completion of masters degree
Experience in a start-up environment
Ability to analyze and incorporate research literature in return of genetic results
Experience in variant curation
Excellent oral/written communication skills
Ability to work independently
Strong organizational and time management skills
