The Director for Assessment plays a key leadership role in developing and leading the District comprehensive assessment system analyzing and using this information to enhance student achievement and growth. The director provides leadership and services that assist school and District staff in examining student performance and improving the quality of students educational experience.

  • Reports consistently for work as scheduled

  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Attains proficient or higher evaluations on established Performance Standards

  • An instructional leader who leads District-wide efforts in the use of the District-wide dashboard to support academic achievement and growth

  • Co-leads the review and revisions to the District Strategic Plan and supports the development of multiple ways to monitor progress in meeting the goals in this Plan.

  • Communicates relevant timely information as needed to keep the Leadership Team informed about state accountability or testing initiatives

  • Ensures that all state reports related to District assessments are completed and submitted to CDE

  • Ensures that results of system-wide assessments and educational quality indicators are reported accurately and used to enhance student achievement and growth

  • Leads building administrators in the development of Unified Improvement Plans

  • Leads District-wide use of IXL to support progress monitoring of student academic growth

  • Leads the Accreditation Sub-Committee on the District Accountability Committee (DAC)

  • Leads the implementation of the Student Experience Survey District-wide

  • Leads the Learning Services team in the development of the District Improvement Plan

  • Manages the administration of student biographical data verification (SBD) for all state and federal mandated assessments

  • Meets regularly with administrators and teachers to promote the understanding of and use of results from tests evaluations or surveys to enhance student achievement and growth

  • Partners with the Director for Curriculum and Instruction and Director for Professional Learning to foster instructional coaching efforts in teacher leaders

  • Partners with the Director for Curriculum and Instruction to support schools with the development of formative assessments and curriculum alignment

  • Partners with the Special Education team to ensure student accommodations are appropriate and in alignment with state guidelines

  • Plans for organizes manages and supervises the administration of all standardized assessments District wide to include NWEA CMAS SAT PSAT etc..

  • Presents relevant and useful assessment data to groups of parents teachers and administrators

  • Provides support for the Student Academic Growth portion of the Teacher Evaluation System

  • Receives verifies and appeals if necessary all School and District Performance Framework determinations for the District and individual schools

  • Stays informed of current external research or testing/evaluation activities that could benefit the District in improving its educational services and advise the administration of these developments together with recommendations for possible implementation in the District

  • Supports administrators and teachers with student data analysis to improve instruction

  • Supports the Assistant Superintendent for Learning Services in the development and presentation of various board of education reports (CMAS District Performance Framework E1.1 etc.)

  • Works with the Information Technology team design Tableau data visualizations to support student data analysis

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing technical information concerning assessment matters to a lay public

  • Background expertise/experience in preparation and delivery of dynamic high-quality presentations to educators and other stakeholders

  • Background expertise/experience in the design and implementation of standards-based instructional systems

  • Commitment to shared decision-making and collaborative teaming

  • Knowledgeable about reliability and validity in assessment design

  • Knowledgeable in the area of large-scale assessment especially the collection and analysis of longitudinal data

  • Knowledgeable of pertinent legal and policy issues as they relate to the operation of a Colorado school District

  • Knowledgeable of research-based best practices in assessment professional learning curriculum and instruction

  • Possess excellent collaboration skills

  • Proficiency in use and application of the Microsoft Office Suite

  • Proven ability to provide high-energy leadership and contribute to the success of the Learning Services Team

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors (Baccalaureate) degree (e.g. B.A. A.B. B.S.)

  • Masters degree (e.g. M.A. M.S. M.S.W. M.B.A. M.L.S.)

  • 3-5 Years Administrative Experience in a School or District Level Position

  • Principal License: Initial - Colorado Department of Education

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3-5 Years Experience as an Assessment Coordinator

Meets eligibility requirements and has applied for licensure at least one month prior to the start date for the position.
