Job Summary
*Salary placement within the above range will be determined based on licensure and relevant To:Director of Vocational Programs / PrincipalPosition Summary:The Vocational Teacher in Cosmetology is responsible for instructing high school students in both the theoretical and practical aspects of cosmetology. This role involves delivering a curriculum aligned with Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) standards supervising salon and laboratory activities and preparing students for the Massachusetts State Board of Cosmetology licensing exam and entry-level employment in the cosmetology industry. The teacher serves as a mentor career guide and facilitator for student learning in a professional inclusive and culturally responsive salon Responsibilities:* Develop and deliver lessons in hair cutting styling coloring chemical services nail care skin care sanitation infection control and salon safety in accordance with Chapter 74 DESE Guidance.* Supervise students during hands-on laboratory work school salon operations and cooperative education or externship experiences.* Maintain a safe professional and supportive learning environment in compliance with Massachusetts safety and health regulations.* Assess student performance through projects exams practical demonstrations and workplace evaluations.* Assist students in preparation for the Massachusetts Cosmetology Licensure Exam.* Adapt instructional methods to meet the needs of diverse learners including students with varying academic abilities cultural backgrounds and language skills.* Collaborate with school administrators guidance counselors special education staff and local cosmetology professionals to support student success.* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of cosmetology practices tools products and regulations.* Participate in professional development and continuing education activities.* Uphold school policies procedures and ethical standards.* Performs additional responsibilities as assigned to support the schools instructional program and operations
