Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated Safety Representative to support safety operations across construction sites and fabrication/shop environments. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career professional looking to build a career in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) within heavy construction and steel fabrication.
The Safety Professional will assist with field inspections shop safety oversight training support hazard identification and compliance with OSHA 1910 & 1926 standards while working closely with supervision craft employees and the safety leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
Field & Shop Safety Support
- Conduct routine jobsite and shop safety inspections
- Identify hazards and assist with corrective actions
- Support Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and pre-task planning
- Observe work activities and coach employees on safe work practices
- Assist with fall protection PPE housekeeping and equipment safety oversight
Compliance & Documentation
- Assist with OSHA compliance (1910 / 1926)
- Help maintain safety records inspection reports and training documentation
- Support incident near-miss and hazard reporting processes
- Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis
Training & Communication
- Assist with new hire orientations and site-specific safety orientations
- Support toolbox talks and safety meetings
- Help track training completion and certifications
- Communicate safety expectations clearly to employees and subcontractors
Continuous Improvement
- Participating in safety audits and internal reviews
- Support implementation of company safety programs and procedures
- Contribute ideas to improve safety culture and engagement
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (required)
- Associates or Bachelors degree in Safety Occupational Health Construction Management or related field (preferred or in progress)
- Basic understanding of construction and/or industrial environments
- Willingness to work in both shop and active construction site conditions
- Ability to walk jobsites climb stairs/ladders and work outdoors
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word Excel Outlook)
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 (Construction or General Industry)
- Internship or field experience in construction fabrication or industrial safety
- CPR / First Aid certification
- Bilingual (English / Spanish) a plus
Environment
- Combination of fabrication shops construction sites and office settings
- Exposure to heavy equipment cranes welding cutting and steel erection activities
- Required use of PPE (hard hat safety glasses boots etc.)
