Medical Laboratory Technicians/Medical Lab Scientists are responsible for performing laboratory tests and analyses in the hematology blood bank special chemistry chemistry and microbiology departments in the laboratory. MLT/MLS employees are responsible for quality control and regular maintenance of laboratory equipment.

• Performs routine lab testing in hematology blood bank special chemistry chemistry and microbiology departments following proper laboratory procedure and follow up of critical lab values
• Performs and verifies quality control and instrument maintenance and troubleshooting
• Collects receives and processes laboratory samples and send outs following proper laboratory procedures

MLT -

Education:

• Associate degree in lab science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution

or

• Qualify as Testing Personnel under Federal Register Sec 493.1489

Licensure/Certification:

• MLT/CLA-ASCP (non regulatory) - Must present record of certification to the Laboratory Director within 1 year of employment
• Valid drivers license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.

MLS -

Education:

• Bachelors degree in chemical physical biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology degree from an accredited institution

or

• Qualify as Testing Personnel under Federal Register Sec 493.1489(b)(2) & General Supervisor under Federal Register Sec 493.1461

Licensure/Certification:

• MT (ASCP) MLS(ASCP) (non regulatory)
• Valid drivers license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
