Desired Qualifications/Skills:
The Ideal Candidate would possess the following background philosophy and experience:
- Experience in the coordination of programming for students with special needs in an inclusive environment.
- Student centered approach to instruction and teacher-student relationships.
- Ability to develop implement and monitor Individual Program Plans for students with severe developmental disabilities that provides sequential learning and opportunities to integrate with same age peers in different grades.
- Ability to write individual reports on a students behaviour and adaptive functioning skills.
- Experience and training working with children with Autism and severe medical needs and non-speaking students.
- Supporting students to increase their independence enhance self-esteem and improve social/interpersonal skills.
- Promote family involvement and increase family participation in educational personal social and/or vocational planning for students.
- An ability to work with parents to implement goals across home and school that support daily living skill development.
- Comply with guidelines for Practice including developmental guidance instruction individual student planning responsive services and school/community support systems.
- A strong background in Behaviour Modification (ABA)
- Effective organizational skills to work with a variety of ways to enhance teaching and learning.
- An ability to use technology and speech devices in a variety of ways to enhance teaching and learning
- An ability to participate in the school community beyond the classroom with the whole school population and positively contribute to the school culture (ie. clubs and teams).
- Participate in staff development professional learning communities and other meetings as appropriate.
- An ability to establish productive relationships with parents.
- Flexible team player and ability to collaborate effectively.
- An ability to work with community agencies to facilitate partnerships for program delivery.
- A commitment to authentic self-reflection and continuous professional growth.
- Other dues as assigned by the school principal.

All candidates must hold or be able to obtain an Alberta Teaching Certificate have knowledge of curriculum and teaching experience at those levels/subject areas and demonstrated interpersonal and classroom management skills
