Union Tank Car Company is seeking applicants to become a Paint/Coatings Technician at our full-service rail tank car repair shop in Cleveland Texas to assist in various departments as needed by plant production.

Starting pay for Cleaning Rack Operator is $26.60/hr.

Primary Job Functions below is a general description of the essential functions of this job. This is not an exhaustive list and employees in these classifications frequently may be required to perform additional duties.

Prepare interior and exterior surface of the tank car for coating or lining by removing rust weld slag scale or other foreign contaminants by directing shot laden compressed air held blast nozzles.

Mixes coatings according to specifications andappliesthe coating to install or repairsection of a coating using airless spray equipment. This maybe toan exterior or interior tank car.

Cleans andmaintainsspraying equipment.

After a tank car is coated they apply piping prior to starting the bake procedure.They also turn on the blower for a specifiedperiod of timebefore introducing the temperature input.

Monitors the bake temperature per specification until the intermediate bake or final bake has been completed.

Maintains and stores a record of baking operations.

Applies decals asto tank car exteriorcars.

Maintain area in a neat and orderly manner and report work hazards.

Knowledge and Skills Required
Have a high school diploma or GED
Must be able to demonstrate job related knowledge of measuring devices such as rules.
Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of weight volume and other units of measurements.
Must be able to work effectively and efficiently both as a member of a team and independently.
Able to follow written and/or verbal instructions with minimal supervision.
Dependable and reliable to show up for scheduled work shifts including overtime
Must be able to work any shift

Environmental Conditions
Must take necessary steps to protect themselves from toxic fumes.
Must take necessary steps to protect themselves when working in a flammable environment.
