Job Description

BYU Pathway and BYU Idaho online courses include both an instructor and graders. Instructors handle teaching and overall course delivery while graders support learning by evaluating assignments and providing constructive feedback. We are seeking graders (support staff) who will apply their skills and subject expertise to grade assignments support student learning provide feedback and collaborate with instructors.

Important: This is a part-time work-from-home position with the following flexible schedule:

10-12 hours per week (may vary week-to-week)

Course Description

Grading support for backend and fullstack web development technologies (including relational databases NoSQL databases and React) in the following courses:

ITM 111 - Introduction to Database
CSE 340 Web Backend Development
CSE 341 Web Services
WDD 430 - Web Fullstack Development

These courses teach students how to develop dynamic data-driven web applications and to collaborate with other developers on teams.

Responsibilities

Using university and department procedures and materials to evaluate student work (rubrics and feedback templates)
Ensuring feedback is actionable timely and accurate
Responding to student questions and concerns about scoring
Coordinating with supervisors for quick resolution of grading issues
Participating in training sessions to receive guidance and feedback
Applying feedback from training and quality checks to improve performance
Performing other duties as assigned in support of the academic process

Qualifications

NOTE: An applicants résumé and official transcripts will be used to determine eligibility for grading for the courses mentioned above. Please clearly highlight relevant education professional work and technologies on your résumé.

General Grader Requirements:

Degree or coursework in a related field
Demonstrated subject matter expertise
Fluency in Portuguese and English (required)
Experience with online teaching/learning especially with at-risk learners (preferred)
High accuracy efficiency and reliability in following procedures and meeting deadlines
Ability to focus and maintain quality even with repetitive or complex tasks
Adaptability to new processes procedures and technologies
Professional respectful and unbiased in sensitive situations
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and discipline-specific software
Proven ability to grade effectively within these subject areas

Specific Course Requirements: Fullstack Web Development Grader

A bachelors degree in computer science or a related field is preferred.
Equivalent education and/or work experience may be considered.
Experience with the following technologies:
- Relational and NoSQL databases.
- Frontend web technologies include JavaScript HTML CSS JSON.
- Web development frameworks including and React.
- Version control systems such as GitHub.
Ability to quickly read and debug imperfect code.
Attention to detail.
Ability to follow test cases with efficiency exactness and accuracy.
Ability to communicate clearly in writing.

Additional Documentation Requirement
