Overview

The employee will be required to obtain security clearance for Candu Energy Inc. facilities and our customer sites. This activity typically requires extended time for someone who is not a citizen of Canada so Canadian citizenship is an employee may be assigned to short-term field service assignments on Candu Field Services projects typically during customers outages and at their sites. During these assignments the employee may be requested to perform work in a radiological work environment such as set-up and operation activities of certain this event the employee will be required to Nuclear Energy Worker qualified and trained to CANDU Energys RP program as Group 3 worker and with our customers onboarding process as well as receiving practical training related to the fitness and hands-on experience with tools and equipment will be an advantage. The employee will be expected to perform tasks and activities commensurate with their level of experience and familiarity with the technology while supervised by more senior engineering (and EIT) staff.

Your role

  • Prepare procurement engineering documentation such as Engineering Quotation Requests (EQRs) other procurement requisition and Tender Technical Evaluation (TTE).
  • Act as the Point of Contact to liaise with the different Engineering stakeholders and Procurement in handling supplier technical queries pre and post contract award.
  • Lead the review process of supplier engineering documents within engineering disciplines ATRL subsidiaries partners and clients.
  • Provide technical support to engineering quality and procurement stakeholders to analyze technical requirements vendor provided documentation and drawings. Provide weekly progress report to the procurement engineering manager.
  • Ensure procurement of engineering packages complies with the applicable procedures codes standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Initiate Design Deviation Requests Design Change Instructions and other technical scope changes and ensure they are approved by all stakeholders.
  • Assist in preparation of equipment and components technical specifications bills of material and datasheets.
  • Coordinate and interface with client(s) procurement project control/management suppliers stakeholders and other design disciplines to execute assigned procurement engineering work.

About you

  • Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or equivalent degree as recognized by Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
  • Eligible to be registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
  • 1 - 3 years of related work experience in electrical engineering and power systems design for either in the nuclear industry or other heavy industrial environment such as: mining oil & gas power etc.
  • Site experience in construction or commissioning of electrical systems for nuclear or other heavy industries would be an asset.
  • Working knowledge applicable codes and standards such as of CSA 22.1 Canadian Electrical Code Part I and The Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC).
  • Basic knowledge and experience of CANDU nuclear electrical power systems is considered an asset.
  • Shall have fundamental technical knowledge to resolve procurement engineering issues or technical problems.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Willing to become a Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW).
  • Must be Team oriented with a demonstrated ability to work well with other and promote a positive work environment.
  • Eligible for Security Clearance through Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC).
  • Shall have excellent communication and technical writing skills and good ability to interact and communicate (both verbal and in writing) professionally with colleagues clients and contractors.
