The Office of Environmental Justice (OEJ) seeks to advance environmental justice in Colorado and implement statutory environmental justice mandates including specific benchmarks and targets established by the Environmental Justice Act. We work in partnership with disproportionately impacted communities (DI communities); the Environmental Justice Advisory Board (EJAB); other federal state local and tribal government partners; and offices and divisions with CDPHE. Our role includes meaningful engagement of DI communities; administering the Environmental Justice Grants Program and Supplemental Environmental Projects; partnering with the Water Quality Control Division to implement the Mobile Home Water Quality Act; providing high-quality spatial analysis and mapping through Enviroscreen and the DI Communities Map; and facilitating Environmental Equity and Cumulative Impact Analysis.
What You Will Be Doing:
This position is responsible for the coordination of inter-agency environmental justice efforts. This position works closely with environmental justice policy leads within CDPHE executive branch agencies local government agencies federal agencies and other interested parties to maintain communication and coordinate policy and programming efforts that advance environmental justice goals. This position analyzes environmental justice policy across state and local agencies and identifies opportunities to promote collaboration. This position also advises leadership and staff within the Office of Environmental Justice (OEJ) and develops strategy for intergovernmental coordination on environmental justice projects such as EnviroScreen and the Environmental Equity and Cumulative Impact Analysis.
