Service Technician (Night Shift)
Your main responsibilities
Join us as a Service Technician (Night Shift) where you will play a key role in maintaining and servicing lift and escalator equipment across your assigned portfolio.
This is a permanent night shift role operating on a 4 on 4 off pattern working 7 PM - 7 AM.
What youll be doing:
- Carrying out routine servicing of lift/escalator equipment including minor repair work and the routine replacement of components in accordance with approved company procedures (PPE PDA Expert etc.)
- Rectifying and reducing faults on lift/escalator equipment in cases of breakdown and checking to confirm correct functioning
- Checking the lift/escalator function as part of maintenance; checks to include speed motor start/stop weight noise temperature and power supplies using approved company-issued tooling and protective equipment
- Carrying out the routine inspection and adjustment of lift/escalator equipment in accordance with approved procedures
- Reinstating lift/escalator equipment and completing service documentation
- Carrying out more advanced fault-finding and diagnostic procedures using a range of techniques technical manuals and appropriate test equipment restoring equipment to service. Competence is required to make effective use of written or graphical information
- Carrying out site surveys and attending all relevant training sessions to keep up to date on technical knowledge and skills
- Working in accordance with the Companys safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current UK legal requirements and Schindler Group safety requirements as well as setting a personal example of safe behaviour
- Contributing to the Company safety objectives where necessary by maintaining/monitoring current safety systems under your direct control and implementing agreed changes (where applicable) to its safety management system
What you bring
- Experience in lift/escalator servicing maintenance or repairs preferred
- Qualified to NVQ Level 3 minimum in lift/escalator maintenance or equivalent
- Advanced electrical and mechanical knowledge including experience with multi-brand equipment
- Advanced problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure meet deadlines and achieve efficiency targets
- Ability to work independently with a flexible approach
- Good communication skills at all levels (clients service leaders inspectors)
- Manual dexterity requires the use of hands arms and feet for repetitive lifting; use of hands and arms to operate various hand and power tools and to record written information
- Proven fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Good administration skills and punctuality
- Full UK driving licence
