Seton Hall University seeks applications for two (2) Lecturers for the University Core curriculum for Academic Year 2026-2027. These lecturers will teach 24 credits per year of required undergraduate courses in the Catholic Intellectual Tradition (4 courses per semester) in-person on the South Orange NJ campus. Candidates must have earned the Ph.D. or relevant terminal degree in the humanities social sciences or related field by August 16 2026. Candidates must be able to work legally in the United States.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The University Core curriculum ( consists of three required courses Journey of Transformation Christianity and Culture in Dialogue and Engaging the World which are taught in person at the first-year second and third/fourth-year levels respectively. These courses emphasize close reading critical thinking and discussion of philosophical religious political literary and other texts from a variety of traditions and genres and they assign formal and informal writing. These courses address humanistic questions raised by great texts with a focus on the Catholic Intellectual Tradition.
Core Lecturers will teach 4 sections for the Department of the Core each semester Fall and Spring. At the discretion of the Dean Director and appropriate Chairperson these Lecturers may be eligible to teach an elective in their specific discipline. They will also engage in research broadly relevant to the Core and support faculty development for teaching in the Core as needed. They will also be expected to participate in Core faculty meetings and College of Arts and Sciences faculty meetings and to serve as needed on Core sub-committees. Core Fellows are expected to attend the University Seminar on Mission.
Required Qualifications:
Ph.D./ABD in humanities social sciences or theology with a particular focus on the Catholic Intellectual Tradition Biblical studies philosophy religion related areas desirable.
Ph.D. should be received or forthcoming by August 2026.

$58000-$65000
