Fugro Norway (Bergen) is looking for an Instrumentation Engineer
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Instrumentation Engineer to join our Metocean Systems Department in Bergen. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the design development and maintenance of advanced Metocean systems that support our clients marine and offshore operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Integration and Testing: Integrate various system components and conduct rigorous testing to ensure functionality reliability and performance.
- Maintenance and Support: Provide ongoing maintenance and technical support for deployed systems including troubleshooting and software updates.
- System Design and Development: Assist the team and clients including hardware and software components to meet project requirements.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including oceanographers engineers and project managers to ensure successful project delivery.
- Documentation: Prepare detailed technical documentation including system specifications user manuals and maintenance procedures.
- Innovation: Stay updated with the latest advancements in Metocean technology and contribute to the continuous improvement of our systems.
Knowledge of the oceanographic electronic instrumentation would be beneficial but training will be provided to candidates with transferable skills from other industries.
The role can require ad hoc travel and working offshore typically lasting between 1-10 days both in the Norwegian Sea and abroad.
Heres what a typical day would be like:
- Testing configuring and troubleshooting instrumentation and equipment.
- Assisting the project management team in the design and building of Metocean monitoring systems.
- Resolve support questions and queries.
- Reviewing client technical requests and specifications.
- Procurement of equipment using project tools.
- Auditing equipment pool and stock resource.
- Auditing reviewing and creating documentation.
- Updating technical drawings.
- Site visits carrying out audits of client owned instrumentation.
Who were looking for:
Essential
- Technician certificatewith relevant experience (bachelors degree or vocational certificate in one or more of fields electrician automation technician computer electronics technician or similar).
- Electronic and/or software engineering knowledgeand experience.
- Excellent attention to detail quality and safety.
- Able to communicate effectively (both verbal and written) with offshore onshore and Client personnel in Norwegian and English.
Desirable
- Technical engineering degree.
- Knowledge of data communication and electronics.
- Demonstrable experience in similar role/ field.
- Hands-on experience with troubleshooting on instrumentation.
- Knowledge of metocean specific instrumentation and regulations (Norsok/CAP437).
- Knowledge of telecommunication protocols.
- Knowledge of networking architecture.
- AutoCAD experience.
- BOSIET (GSK Offshore).
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python MATLAB or C.
- Experience and knowledge of IOT sensors in industrial environments.
Please note you will need to pass an Offshore Medical prior to employment.
