Position Summary The Account Manager is responsible for the strategic management and servicing of an assigned book of employee benefits clients. This mid- to senior-level role oversees day-to-day client relationships benefit plan administration renewals compliance support and the marketing and placement of employee benefit programs. The Account Manager serves as a primary client contact and is expected to deliver proactive consultative service while ensuring accuracy compliance and exceptional client experience.
Key Responsibilities
Client Relationship Management Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients providing comprehensive account management and ongoing consultation Monitor client objectives and ensure benefit programs align with organizational goals and workforce needs Respond to client inquiries promptly professionally and accurately
Marketing Renewals & Placement Market and place new benefit lines of coverage and replacement coverage for existing plans Coordinate carrier marketing efforts including census preparation surveys proposal
development and presentations Manage all aspects of annual renewals including advance planning carrier negotiations client meetings renewal analyses and written renewal communications Monitor renewal timelines and request renewals from carriers well in advance
Benefits Administration & Enrollment Oversee group benefit plan administration including employee additions terminations and changes Prepare benefit comparisons rate analyses and plan summaries Conduct new hire enrollment meetings and annual Open Enrollment meetings in person or via virtual platforms such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams Educate employees on benefit options and support informed decision-making
Systems Data & Documentation Maintain accurate and current client and employee data in systems including Ease Salesforce and shared client file repositories Ensure documentation accuracy and oversee workflow coordination with internal team members responsible for data entry Partner with Client Service Representatives to review contracts booklets billing statements and carrier documentation
Compliance & Problem Resolution Address complex benefit plan questions and resolve claims billing eligibility and carrier-related issues Prepare and support ACA reporting audits and compliance-related client requests Support compliance with applicable state and federal regulations including ERISA HIPAA ACA and California-specific insurance and privacy requirements
Business Development Support Market prepare and present proposals for prospective clients Meet with key decision-makers and follow through to ensure successful implementation of sold products and services
Perform other duties as assigned Maintain strict confidentiality of all proprietary and client information
California Compliance & Confidentiality Responsibilities Handle all personally identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI) in compliance with HIPAA CCPA/CPRA and applicable California privacy laws Follow internal controls supporting compliance with California insurance regulations wage and hour standards and employment laws Adhere to company policies related to information security document retention and professional ethics
Required Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of insurance or employee benefits experience
Active California Life and Health Insurance License (required) Strong knowledge of group insurance products and benefit plan design Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proficient with Microsoft Word Excel PowerPoint and Outlook (Microsoft Suite) Ability to travel locally using a personal vehicle; valid California drivers license required Ability to represent the firm with professionalism integrity and confidence

Physical Demands This position requires the ability to sit for extended periods operate a computer and keyboard communicate verbally read printed and on-screen materials reach standard office storage areas and occasionally lift materials up to 30 pounds.
Work Environment The work environment is typical of a professional insurance office. Facilities are smoke-free drug-free pet-free and wheelchair accessible. Occasional travel to client sites is required.
