Job Summary

English Learner Teacher (K-12)

Kokomo School Corporation

Job Summary: Administer the WIDA Assessment to determine EL proficiency levels; design and implement Individual Learning Plans (ILPs); provide small group instruction aligned with the WIDA standards framework for students at proficiency levels 1 2 and 3; collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate effective EL strategies in lesson planning and instruction ensuring alignment with the WIDA standards. Experience working with EL students preferred

Certification and Qualifications: Indiana Teaching License ESL certification/endorsement preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

Assess and document student progress providing feedback to students and parents.
Participate in staff meetings training sessions and collaborative planning.
Supervise students during school activities field trips and breaks.
Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet students varying needs.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance grades and behavior.
Comply with school policies state regulations and ethical teaching standards.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during classroom instruction and supervision.
Manual dexterity to operate classroom technology and equipment.
Visual and auditory ability to monitor student behavior and respond to classroom situations.
Ability to move quickly in response to student safety needs.
Ability to perform light physical activitiessuch as bending kneeling and reachingas required in a classroom setting as well as lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
