Metra is one of the largest and most complex commuter rail systems in North America serving Cook DuPage Will Lake Kane and McHenry Counties. The agency is linking communities in Northeastern Illinois by providing safe reliable and efficient service.

The Mechanical Department is in charge of all rolling stock which includes 150 locomotives 845 coach cars 186 highliners and 530 fleet vehicles. The Mechanical Department ensures that rolling stock operates safely effectively and efficiently throughout the Metra System. Mechanical Department performs all Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) inspection including daily quarterly semiannual annual Tri-annual quad etc. and provides daily cleaning services of all rolling addition the Department purchases new equipment rehabilitates perform modification maintenance and wreck repairs to all rolling stock to help improve state of good repair and on-time performance.

Responsible for cleaning and maintaining passenger cars and equipment.

This is a Lottery Position looking to fill openings in the following locations:ElburnKenosha WIWaukeganHarvard Fox Lake andAntioch.

This is a Union position. Starting pay rates may vary based on entry rates in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

1. Must have experience in manual-type labor that includes functions such as climbing reaching bending pushing and pulling.
2. Required to lift and carry up to 30 lbs of water to mop floors.
3. Experience using shop and highway vehicles brooms mops and hoses.
