Description


This position supervises a team of Traffic Specialists at our warehouses & provides support to the Outbound Transportation Manager in supervising the activities related to DDS carriers delivery and operations. This includes training and supervising transportation department associates compliance with standard operating procedures (SOP) related to DDS carriers operations.

Monitors outbound shipments and analyzes carrier performance levels to ensure that MPA and dealership customers have damage free parts availability to service vehicles. Plans issues expedites and resolves dealer shipments with carriers to ensure accuracy quality and timely delivery to meet logistical requirements. Produces daily weekly monthly and quarterly performance and forecast reports.



KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES



Supervises the daily work of transportation specialists including adherence to Parts Distribution Center (PDC) Safety Standards and standard operating procedures adherence to established PDC tender times & planned route departure times.

Prepares work schedules including extra work days and shifts as needed.

Assists with the training of new transportation specialists including cross-training of existing associates.

Direct the proper selection and utilization of company assets in support of the delivery department.

Reviews delivery functions and productivity reporting; suggests efficiency ideas cost reduction measures and assists with implementation of delivery changes.

Interprets trains and consistently enforces company policies protocols and procedures including but not limited to hazardous material regulations DOT record keeping etc.

Communicates with warehouse and customer service teams to collaboratively resolve any dealer or delivery opportunities or issues.

Visits dealer locations and meets with customers to address issues and assess delivery difficulty.

Maintains positive associate relations through regular department or pre-shift meetings;

Keeps open communication channels with transportation specialists by answering questions and explaining policies and procedures.

Monitors associate morale along with submitting and responding to ideas to improve associate engagement and enablement.

Works with PDC manager to aid in training conducting associate observations up-dating preferred work methods conducting dealer investigation to determine root causes and recommend solutions.

Makes recommendations for corrective action and/or behavior modification where required.

Performs management functions of staff selection development discipline performance reviews and/or terminations.

Coordinates activities associated with carrier compliance with the policies and processes outlined in the Mobis Parts procedure manual. Works with carriers MPA management and contractors to identify and fulfill logistical and operational requirements at the Parts Distribution Center (PDC).

Updates PDC internal transportation system (Varsity) on dealer and carrier route information.

Monitors PDC dealer freight tender cut times and carrier departure times on daily basis. Generates reports and troubleshoot any delays with PDC & carriers. Develops and distributes reports with outbound to PDC & carriers returns.

Notifies dealers & appropriate MPA departments on delayed or not processed shipments from PDC

Reviews analyzes & assigns carrier shortage claims. Works with carriers to identify and implement corrective actions along with payment resolution.

Runs adhoc Excel/Access reports to analyze carrier performance & PDC freight tender times. Develops carrier performance reports for staff review.

Interfaces with related departments and dealers to solve shipping issues. Investigates and resolves issues associated regarding dealer claims labeling packaging receiving quality and transportation.

Reviews and analyzes dealer parts returns to determine and establish economical minimum return quantities to reduce parts handling assist supply dealer inventories and transportation efficiencies.

Monitors Dealer delivery changes and analyze requirements. Forecasts carrier coordination dealer access coordination and MPA system changes for processing of orders.

Provide guidance to PDC on proper shipping of hazardous materials items

Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Minimum 5 years PDC operations and/or transportation experience

Knowledge of PDC carrier and dealer processes and procedures.

Basic understanding of principles concepts practices and standards related to parts transportation system information management.

Ability to prepare statistical analysis according to established forecasting methodologies using associated system software and information.

Hazmat Certification is preferred.

Proficiency with MS Office with strong Excel & Powerpoint skills.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Resourceful problem solver with the ability to use tools and resources to answer questions.

Keen attention to detail and ability to identify problems in data intuitively.

Strong organizational and time management skills; able to handle multiple priorities in a fast-changing environment.

Flexible team player with the ability to work independently as well as with cross functional teams.
