RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions
- Meet or exceed the standards for the safety security hygiene and emotional welfare of clinic patients that may normally be expected of a responsible guardian.
- Meet or exceed legal and professional standards for the storage of medicines and prescriptions.
- Ensure medicines are dispensed in accordance with prescriptive guidelines or standing order protocol in an accurate and timely manner.
- Meet or exceed industry and professional standards for administering first aid to trainees guests and employees of the USSRC.
- Meet or exceed industry and professional standards for examination of trainees guests and employees with complaints of physical symptoms (including initial assessments).
- Ensure the accurate and timely preparation/distribution of documentation regarding exams accident reports medical records etc.
- Meet or exceed industry and professional standards for referring patients to hospital facilities for medical conditions that require treatment unavailable at the USSRC.
- Ensure parents/guardians of trainees referred for medical treatment are well informed of trainees medical condition.
- Ensure the accurate and timely notification of parents/guardians in the event their child is medically discharged injured or ill.
- Aid in training of applicable USSRC employees on health issues and medical procedures such as communicable diseases first aid emergency procedures etc.
- Respond to questions/concerns of parents promptly to ensure they are informed on how camp attendance will impact specific medical conditions.
- Meet or exceed professional in industry standards for confidentiality of medical records and other related documentation.
- Ensure the nursing office has adequate supplies necessary to conduct daily operations.
- Ensure timely arrangement of transportation for trainees to and from hospital facilities.
- Meet or exceed the expectations of the Nursing Supervisor for the accurate and timely completion of related tasks and assignments.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education
- Associates degree in Nursing required
- Bachelors degree in Nursing preferred
- Active Alabama or Multistate (Compact) RN License
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Required Experience
- Clinical nursing experience in a fast-paced healthcare environment required
- Precepting experience may be considered in lieu of the clinical nursing requirement dependent upon area in which is was completed (such as emergency room peds ICU or pediatric floor)
- Previous USSRC Nurse Clerk experience may be considered in lieu of the clinical nursing requirement
- 2 years of experience in an emergency room or working with pediatric/adolescent population in a healthcare setting is preferred
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Physical Requirements
This position requires regular walking and climbing stairs to access different buildings and departments as well as sitting for extended periods (4-6 hours). It involves carrying and lifting boxes and supplies up to 30 pounds waist-high and bending or kneeling to store and retrieve supplies. The role also requires the use of sight reading tactile ability and wrist movements to administer medications provide first aid operate a computer terminal and assess patient conditions. Effective communication skills including talking and hearing are essential for interacting with patients parents and employees both in person and over the phone.

Environmental Factors
This position is based in a climate-controlled clinical environment and requires working in a confined area with other employees. It involves exposure to the typical hazards associated with the medical profession and includes extensive interaction with small children parents guests and employees.
Expected Hours of Work
Flexibility is necessary requiring weekend and/ or overnight hours based on the Centers needs and individual availability.
