Along with leading in web services and e-commerce is an inventive research and development company that designs and engineers high-profile consumer electronics including our best-selling e-readers tablets and Fire TV.
Alexa Built-In team enables Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to embed Alexa into their surfaces.
Key job responsibilities
The ideal candidate has current and extensive experience developing and building device systems and applications. The candidate understands what the limitations of the platform are and can design and implement additional services or help optimize existing ones to meet the product requirements. Partners closely with ODM/OEMs to launch Alexa Built-In devices.
This PE role requires independently navigating large Alexa organizations with independent roadmaps and shepherding ideating building and launching of Alexa LLM experiences on 3P devices building primitives aligned with overall Alexa architecture and reusable beyond ABI on other device types and surfaces and other use cases such as Alexa Kids or Alexa Smart Vehicles. This leader has to play the role of a horizontal systems thinker who can look across the board and intervene with the right solutions for a plethora of 1P Alexa capabilities (Comms Smart Home capabilities Camera etc) working properly on a variety of 3P devices. This PE will drive brand new device specific capabilities for a wide range of 3P devices and seamless experiences between a constellation of 1P and 3P devices. This PE needs to influence broader org in these areas (i) avoiding one-way door decisions as the architecture/systems are initially built for 1P hardware and (ii) foreseeing gaps for 3P devices that need to be addressed through new technology people or processes.
Bachelors degree and/or Masters / Doctorate degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
10 years of System Development Engineering experience leading consumer device product development system programming device driver/BSP integration SOC bringup/debug/deployment and system engineering best practices.
10 years of hands-on development experience in Android/Linux HW/SW integration platform SW/middleware/framework/app development/integration.
Have excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.
Expertise in consumer device systems/ecosystem
Exposure to panel technologies and ecosystem.
Experience in performance optimization and tuning of high throughput consumer electronic devices
Have demonstrable customer obsession and balance between tactical delivery and long-term strategy to deliver incremental user value while minimizing technical debt
Ability and willingness to multi-task and learn new technologies quickly.
