Job Summary

We are a Tier 1 automotive supplier seeking a Mold Technician to support high-volume injection molding and assembly operations. This role is critical to ensuring tooling reliability supporting program launches and maintaining world-class manufacturing performance aligned with Lean Manufacturing and the Toyota Production System (TPS).

The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on tooling experience a proactive mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced automotive environment where uptime quality and continuous improvement are key.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • 2-3 years set up technician experience.
  • Experience with machine set up and shut down.
  • Skilled in processing quality issues.
  • Robot part extraction and quick mold change experience would be an asset.
  • Demonstrate troubleshooting ability of the equipment and help find root cause
  • The ability to communicate effectively
  • Enforce good Quality show good skills in ensuring quality is built in each and every process
  • Must be able to effectively problem solve (Safety Quality and Productivity)
  • Team oriented but able to work independently
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to be flexible in a constantly changing environment
  • Ability to adapt and respond to unforeseen demands and/or problems.

DUTIES

  • Support high-volume automotive injection molding processes and assembly operations
  • Perform preventive predictive and breakdown maintenance on injection molds and related equipment
  • Disassemble inspect repair modify and reassemble molds including hot runner and multi-cavity tooling
  • Troubleshoot mold-related issues to minimize downtime scrap and quality concerns
  • Implement engineering changes tool modifications and process improvements
  • Support new program launches PPAP activities and tooling validations
  • Recommend technical solutions to improve mold performance cycle time and part quality
  • Operate injection molding machines as required for setup verification and troubleshooting
  • Participate in Kaizen continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives
  • Read and interpret tooling drawings blueprints schematics and machine specifications
  • Communicate effectively with Production Engineering Quality and external tooling vendors
  • Maintain compliance with TBCA quality and safety standard.
  • Proven experience with:
    • Injection mold maintenance and repair
    • Preventive and breakdown maintenance
    • Continuous improvement / Kaizen activities
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
  • Ability to work in a non-union multi-skilled maintenance environment
  • Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills
  • High attention to detail with a quality-focused mindset
  • Willingness to work bi-weekly rotating shifts and overtime as required

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Direct experience with TPS / Lean Manufacturing
  • Knowledge of PPAP APQP and automotive quality systems
  • Experience with engineered resins (ABS PP Nylon PC glass-filled materials)
  • Familiarity with root cause analysis tools (5-Why Fishbone A3)
  • Exposure to automation robotics or Industry 4.0 initiatives
