Job Summary

The role

National Drug Treatment Centre is providing an addiction inclusion health service to patients on a national level. We have over 500 clients on our Treatment List with an average of 300 clients attending the clinic daily.

The team structure within the Centre comprises of a multidisciplinary team including: pharmacists nurses doctors health and social services professionals Consultant Psychiatrists Senior Registrars and NCHD clerical administration and general support staff.

The person

Each candidate must at the latest date for receipt of completed applications for the post possess:

1. Professional Qualifications & Experience

(i) Are registered in the General Division of the Register of Nurses & Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann) or entitled to be so registered.

And

(ii) Have at least 5 years post registration experience of which 2 must be in the speciality area of Addiction Studies

And

(iii) Have the clinical managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role

And

(iv) Demonstrate evidence of Continuing Professional Development at the appropriate level.

2. Age

Age restriction shall only apply to a candidate where s/he is not classified as a new entrant (within the meaning of the Public Service Superannuation (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2004). A candidate who is not classified as a new entrant must be under 65 years of age on the first day of the month in which the latest date for receiving completed application forms for the office occurs.

4. Health

Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

5. Character

Candidates for and any person holding the office must be of good character.

Please note that appointment to and continuation in posts that require statutory registration is dependent upon the post holder maintaining annual registration in the Register of Pharmacists maintained by the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland.
