Job Summary

Our client is on a mission to dismantle the borders of African finance. They are building the high-speed rail of cross-border payments infrastructure that is seamless secure and infinitely scalable. To power this vision they need more than a manager; they need a Vice President of Engineering. This is a role for a battle-tested technologist who has lived through the scaling war stories of Tier-1 fintechs and emerged with the wisdom to build a world-class engineering organization from the ground up.

As their Lead you are the architect of their future. You will turn business ambitions into technical reality ensuring that as they scale to millions of users their systems remain unshakeable.

Who are we looking for

You dont just delegate; you understand the soul of the machine. You can dive deep into system architecture security protocols and infrastructure while keeping your eye on the 10000-foot strategy.
You have a proven track record of managing large multi-disciplinary teams (20 engineers) and turning them into high-performance units.
Youve worked at the tier one fintech companies. You know what it feels like to manage systems where downtime isnt just an inconvenience its a crisis.
You know when to build for the next ten years and when to ship for the next ten days. You balance speed quality and risk with surgical precision.
You dont just hire engineers; you build a culture of accountability excellence and continuous learning.

Your Responsibilities

Technology Strategy and amp; Vision

You will own the long-term technology vision for Oval Finance ensuring their architecture supports global expansion and massive transaction volumes.
You will design high-availability fault-tolerant systems that meet the most rigorous regulatory and security standards in the fintech world.
You will make the final call on critical decisions involving cloud infrastructure data integrity and platform resilience.

Engineering Leadership and amp; Operational Excellence

You will lead and scale a multi-disciplinary organization encompassing Backend Mobile DevOps Security and Data teams.
You will establish the frameworks CI/CD processes and delivery standards that ensure they and nbsp;ship high-quality code at an elite pace.
You will be the North Star for your team fostering a high-performance environment where the best talent wants to stay and grow.

Business and amp; Product Synergy

You will work as a strategic peer to the CEO and Board translating complex business goals into clear technical execution.
You will partner with Product and Operations to allow for rapid testing of new features without compromising the stability of their core engine.

What Success looks like

Multiple concurrent products are delivered on time with gold-standard stability and zero major regressions.
Achieving 99.99% uptime and maintaining the highest levels of security and compliance as they and nbsp;enter new markets.
Building an engineering culture that is widely regarded as one of the best in the African tech ecosystem.

To be considered for this role you should have

Tier-1 Fintech Pedigree: Proven experience in a leadership role (VP Engineering or CTO) at a top-tier fintech company.
Scale Experience: You have built or managed platforms serving millions of active users and processing massive transaction volumes.
Leadership Breadth: Experience managing teams of 20 engineers across diverse time zones and technical disciplines.
Deep Technical Foundations: A strong background in backend systems distributed architectures and security-first engineering.
Business Acumen: The ability to present technical strategies to a Board and align engineering goals with the companys bottom line.
