Description of Work

Position is a Nurse Consultant I (Nurse Educator) located at Central Prison Healthcare Complex in Raleigh NC. This facility houses approximately 1318 close custody male offenders.

This position is responsible for the development and implementation of mandatory classes and training courses for the CPHC staff to include medical and mental health. Duties include:

performing as an American Heart Association BLS instructor which provides BLS classes monthly for CPHC staff and maintains BLS training records
acting as preceptor for nursing staff
offering mandatory training for the Department of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice
must be ACLS certified instructor preferred or willing and able to obtain ACLS instructor certification within one (1) year of employment
maintaining training databases and communicates upcoming training due dates to department managers
developing self-study in-services for staff
tracking and maintaining training records
preparing educational reports
providing new staff orientation
medication technician training

Salary Pay Range: $59732 - $98557

  • Technical Knowledge: In depth knowledge of disease processes and the complexities of monitoring responses to therapies and treatments in-depth knowledge of one or more recognized chronic diseases ability to interpret and adhere to research study protocols.
  • Communication: Knowledge of advanced communication techniques skill in observing behavior and mannerisms skill in dealing with acutely ill patients ability to disseminate information effectively to target audience.
  • Consulting/Advising: Ability to answer questions from the nursing and medical staff or prove consultation on disease processes treatment care etc.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) withState Benefits.
