Job Summary

This is a remote position.

We are seeking a Senior Operations Engineer for a 6-month full-time contract daily rate available.

In this role you will act as a senior consultant on CI/CD pipelines ensuring operational readiness and stability for complex deployments. You will be responsible for defining quality assurance measures automating standard processes to reduce toil and enforcing security standards across multi-tenant environments.

Remuneration: Daily rate available
Language: English is the only requirement (C1)
Location: Remote-first with only occasional onsite visits in Germany

Responsibilities

Operational Readiness: Consult on CI/CD pipelines; validate deployment artifacts; and define quality gates including standard operating procedures and rollback strategies.
Stability & Observability: Monitor system health and performance across environments. Manage Incident Problem and Change processes to ensure high availability and minimal disruption.
Automation & SRE: Identify recurring operational bottlenecks and automate remedial processes following strict software development lifecycles (staging testing and validation).
Security & Compliance: Implement robust logging and monitoring to support audit requirements. Perform routine security scans and manage vulnerability remediation.
Documentation: Maintain and improve technical runbooks providing expert feedback to stakeholders to ensure documentation remains accurate and actionable.

Requirements

Residency & Eligibility: You must hold valid residency and the right to work in the EU EEC UK or Switzerland.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of operational experience with self-managed Kubernetes clusters and productive applications in on-premise environments.
Technical Proficiency:
- Deep understanding of CI/CD tooling (e.g. GitLab Jenkins Tekton ArgoCD).
- Strong background in networking concepts (load balancing protocols and security).
- Expertise in monitoring and logging stacks (e.g. Prometheus Grafana Datadog) including SLI/SLA/SLO tracking.
Methodology: Fundamental understanding of IT Service Management (ITSM) and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) concepts.
Preferred Skills: Hands-on software engineering experience (Go Python or C/C) and experience building RESTful services in distributed architectures.
