Job Summary

The Barista & Food Handler will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality coffee and food items while ensuring compliance with food safety and hygiene standards. The role requires excellent customer service skills teamwork and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.


Primary Responsibilities:

1. Beverage & Food Preparation

  • Prepare and serve coffee espresso and specialty beverages according to company recipes and customer preferences.
  • Operate coffee-making equipment such as espresso machines grinders and blenders.
  • Portion and prepare food items such as sandwiches salads and baked goods in accordance with food safety regulations.
  • Ensure proper storage and labeling of ingredients and prepared food items.
  • Record log temperature monitoring for the equipment as per food handling and safety regulations of Canadian standards.

2. Customer Service

  • Greet and engage customers in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Take accurate customer orders and process payments efficiently.
  • Address customer inquiries concerns and special requests courteously.
  • Upsell and recommend menu items based on customer preferences.

3. Cleanliness & Hygiene

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area counters equipment and utensils.
  • Follow all food handling and sanitation guidelines to ensure a safe food environment.
  • Dispose of waste properly and ensure proper recycling practices are followed.
  • Adhere to personal hygiene standards and wear appropriate safety and sanitary gear.

4. Inventory & Stocking

  • Restock ingredients beverages and supplies as needed.
  • Monitor stock levels and inform management of low inventory.
  • Assist with inventory checks and receive product deliveries.
  • Order the required stocks from the suppliers and manage them.
  • Pick up cargo as needed.
  • Track wastage and manage them to reduce waste.

5. Compliance & Safety

  • Follow all workplace safety procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Comply with food handling regulations and workplace policies.
  • Report any maintenance or equipment issues to management.
  • Assist in training new staff members as required.

6. Catering Management

  • Respond to catering inquiries and orders received via phone email and walk-in providing timely and accurate quotes.
  • Plan prepare and package catering orders for meetings events and community functions ensuring high standards of quality and presentation.
  • Manage the entire catering process from order intake to execution including cooking assembly and readiness for delivery or pickup.
  • Coordinate directly with suppliers to ensure required ingredients and materials are in stock.
  • Maintain an organized catering calendar and prepare invoices promptly following up to ensure payments are collected.
  • Promote catering services through in-store materials and regular updates on social media.
  • Act as the main point of contact for catering clients building positive relationships and encouraging repeat business.

7. Menu & Promotions Management

  • Update the menu regularly and introduce new items as necessary to reflect online POS and KIOSK offerings.
  • Ensure all menu updates are accurately reflected across all ordering platforms.
  • Post promotions on social media pages on a regular basis to engage customers and drive sales.

Work Environment:

  • The role involves standing for long hours and handling hot beverages and food items.
  • May require lifting supplies and ingredients up to 50 lbs.
  • Fast-paced customer-facing environment with a focus on teamwork and efficiency.



Requirements

  • Previous experience as a barista or food handler is preferred but not required. Training will be provided.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills with a friendly attitude.
  • Ability to multi-task and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of food safety guidelines and ability to maintain high cleanliness standards.
  • Basic math skills for handling transactions and measuring ingredients.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays.


Benefits

Work Schedule & Compensation:

  • 40 hours per week with overtime available for hours exceeding 44 per week.
  • Bi-weekly pay at $23.08 per hour.
  • Two days off per week scheduled as per business needs.
  • 30-minute break per shift.
  • Subsidized accommodation available.
