About the Role
The Custodial Technician (CT) is responsible for the overall cleanliness and maintenance of the shelter facility its equipment and its campus. The CT will serve as the point of contact for all maintenance contractors working at the shelter and all vendors providing linen and supplemental services such as pest control. The Custodial Technician will keep a running maintenance request log and work closely with Fairfax Counties Facilities Maintenance Division who regularly services the facility.
How you will contribute:
- Perform daily cleaning to the entire shelter facility including: removal of trash vacuuming/sweeping floors mopping as necessary wiping all surfaces including windows window sills and furniture as well as disinfect all bathrooms.
- Restock all supplies such as paper towels toilet paper garbage can liners air freshener hand soaps etc.
- Properly care for all cleaning equipment (washing mop heads and removing dust and debris from floor cleaning equipment).
- Serve as point of contact for contractors and vendors related to facilities management
- Perform grounds maintenance at Katherine Hanley and Kates Place such as picking up trash cleaning trash receptacles removing debris etc.
- Assist in repair and installation of shelter furnishings and equipment as requested and maintaining a working knowledge of how appliances and equipment operate and when they need servicing.
- Assist in annual Kates Place maintenance including air filter changes smoke detector checks etc.
- Assist in troubleshooting and reporting maintenance requests at both Katherine Hanley and Kates Place
- Support front desk residential staff when needed to answer phones assist clients and drive vans
- Assist Assistant Director of Operations in ensuring the facilitys inclement weather and emergency response plan is current (Including tracking fire drills etc)
- Proficiently utilize Microsoft (email calendar drive docs etc) as a part of the day to day work requirements
- Safely operate Shelter Houses Vehicles
- Exemplify the Shelter House core values (iCARE) Inclusivity Collaboration Accountability Respect and Empowerment
- Other duties as assigned
RequirementsRequired:
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Drivers License
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends when needed as schedule may vary
Preferred:
- 1 year of custodial experience
Physical Requirements:
- Annual TB Test is required
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods
- Ability to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Bending stooping and crouching
