Job Summary

Since we opened our doors in 2009 the world of commerce has evolved immensely and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale we saw sellers stymied by disparate outmoded products and tools that wouldnt work together.

So we expanded into software and started building integrated omnichannel solutions to help sellers sell online manage inventory offer buy now pay later functionality book appointments engage loyal buyers and hire and pay staff. Across it all weve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper increase order sizes and compete at a larger scale.

Today we are a partner to sellers of all sizes large enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations sellers just starting as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. The Role

Strategic Finance improves financial and operational decision-making across Block. Reporting to the International Lead for Finance and Strategy this role will be based in London UK with hybrid work opportunities.

You Will

  • Report the financial planning process for important products and teams; including building/maintaining and reviewing operating and financial models.
  • Be the primary Finance Business Partner (FBP) with key teams within our Square organization and collaborate across all levels and departments in the organization
  • Support strategic decisions including projects on pricing design customer behavior analysis and economics LTV / Return on investment of marketing efforts market/competitive landscape benchmarking and other data-driven analysis
  • Create and/or review analyses that facilitates clear decision-making mine data from our databases to predict short-term and long-term trends
  • Evaluate our performance; report the performance; identify any risks or opportunities associated with reported financial data
  • Partner with our Go-to-Market teams (Sales Marketing Partnerships etc) on strategy and execution with the aim of increasing the size and efficiency of our acquisition motions.
  • Partner with the International Accounting team on transactional and financial close matters to ensure accuracy over financial statement reporting
  • Partner with departments (e.g. Accounting Business Intelligence and Data Analytics Sales and Marketing and others) to report on the financial impact of decisions across the company
  • Prepare analysis and support communication to product leaders board members and executive staff

You Have

  • 8 years post qualified and relevant industry experience
  • A finance qualification or relevant working experience within strategy finance
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to lead strategic projects and make data-driven recommendations
  • Proactively develop and implement financial strategies to support the growth plans
  • Ability to multitask prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Strong financial background; deep expertise in financial modelling and analysis and Excel (there will be a case study)
  • Experience with SQL / Hyperion
