Job Summary

Position Function:

This position plans and manages the work of the Career Horizons Project a five-year grant from the U.S. Department of Educations Disability Innovation Fund that aims to provide placement and retention services for Competitive Integrated Employment connecting people with disabilities with meaningful jobs and fair pay in a work environment alongside others. While specific duties will vary based on assignment the Project Coordinator will coordinate project activities through planning delivery and reporting and will support the project team members by enhancing project communication organization delivery and evaluation.

Salary Grade:13

Department Profile:

The Mississippi Institute on Disabilities (MIoD) is housed within the College of Education and represents an interdisciplinary hub focused on innovative and convergent research service and training to support individuals with disabilities. Affiliated units of MIoD include the T.K. Martin Center for Technology and Disability; the Autism and Developmental Disabilities Clinic; Career Horizons Center; ACCESS and Specialized College Services; and affiliate programs in the College of Education among others.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Stays abreast of project goals and deadlines and tracks teams progress toward meeting them.
Communicates with funding agency representatives and stakeholders as coordinated with the PI and grant administrators.
Coordinates logistics for the project team (e.g. training travel meeting schedules catering etc.).
Supports and assists with delivering training events.
Ensures data collection and storage and assists with processes as needed.
Reviews incoming referrals and contacts individuals.
Conducts Eligibility Screening & Assessments for individuals who may be eligible for project.
Communicates with team members manages any conflict and promotes relationships that facilitate collaboration and enhance team performance.
Works closely with the Project Manager to meet project deadlines and reports on project progress.
Provides supervision to team members as appropriate maintaining a friendly and engaging team environment with weekly interactions.
Verifies that staff time and effort align with budget and project parameters.
Assists with reporting required by funding agency involving team members in the process.
Coordinates with appropriate support staff in tracking expenses making purchases and managing project budget resources.
Supports and assists with developing project deliverables (e.g. presentations manuscripts curricula research evaluations).
Provides technical assistance as required by position.
Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Level I:
Bachelors degree in a related discipline.

Level II:
Bachelors degree in a related discipline plus 2 years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Six months-plus of related work experience
Demonstrable proficiency in technology including Microsoft Suite (Word Excel Teams) Canvas Canva Adobe Acrobat and/or related technology
Masters degree in a related field (e.g. rehabilitation counseling social work psychology business education or related)
Experience working with persons with disabilities
Experience in communications marketing collaboration in large groups
Experience in social media content creation editing and brand management
Experience with creating and editing fillable documents
Experience in vocational rehabilitation
Experience in workforce development
Experience with state and federal policies related to disability employment services

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

1. No unusual physical requirements.
2. Requires no heavy lifting and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.
3. Frequent - Externally imposed deadlines; set and revised beyond ones control; interruptions influence priorities; difficult to anticipate nature or volume of work with certainty beyond a few days; irregular hours may be anticipated; meeting of deadlines and coordination of unrelated activities are key to position.
4. Job frequently requires walking sitting reaching talking hearing handling objects with hands.
5. Job requires standing stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling and lifting up to 10 pounds.
6. Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
7. Hearing requirements: Heavy telephone contact requires ability to hear and respond to telephone conversations.
