Location: Remote worldwide. Please know that the current team works in US Coastal Time and European Central Time and some overlap throughout the day with these two time zones is required.

Travel: This role will involve limited travel. The final schedule will be decided with the staff.

About EDGE:

EDGE Funders Alliance (Engaged Donors for Global Equity) is a global community of around 400 donors foundation officers trustees and philanthropic advisors who live in more than 20 countries and are passionately engaged in local national and international grantmaking within 120 diverse institutions that have differing priorities and strategies but a shared commitment to systemic change. EDGEs mission is to support the broader global movement to dismantle extractive funding systems while working to align resources with the priorities and visions of social movements to drive systemic change and justice.

We do this by organizing and implementing spaces for learning and facilitating action that create systemic change within philanthropy. We organize funders globally to foster trust and collaborate with each other so that they can disrupt the power dynamics inherent in philanthropy and create new systemic and anti-extractive funding practices. We also implement spaces for learning and taking actions by highlighting the voices visions and priorities of movement leaders.

EDGE is a 501(c)(3) organization with an annual budget of $1 million. It operates fully remotely with three full-time staff. As a small team EDGE has a culture that emphasizes collaboration trust collective care learning shared power and mutual accountability and seeks to continue to embed its values into its emerging infrastructure.

EDGE Funders Alliance is currently in an important moment of transition moving into a shared leadership team structure without an Executive Director. This shift reflects our commitment to collective governance care-centered leadership and distributed responsibility across the team.

Role overview

The Finance and Operations Coordinator is a key operational role at EDGE with primary responsibility for stewarding financial processes supporting events planning and the administrative functioning of the organization. This is a mid-career role suited to someone who brings strong financial coordination skills logistics support experience attention to detail and a collaborative care-centered approach to organizational systems.

The role leads on day-to-day financial processes and works closely with an external bookkeeper to track budgets monitor cash flow and ensure that the staff team Leadership Team and Board of Directors are well informed about EDGEs financial addition the role provides administrative and logistical support across the organization including for programs events and Board operations.

This position sits at the intersection of finance operations and governance and is essential to ensuring transparency accountability and organizational sustainability.

Key responsibilities

Financial coordination and oversight

  • Lead internal financial processes in close collaboration with EDGEs external bookkeeper and in line with EDGEs financial and accounting policies
  • Track income and expenses against the approved budget ensuring accuracy and clarity
  • Monitor cash flow and flag risks trends or variances in a timely way
  • Prepare regular financial updates and summaries for the Leadership Team and Board
  • Support the co-creation of annual organizational budgets in collaboration with the Leadership Team
  • Lead on budget monitoring and reforecasting throughout the year
  • Track membership fee income and support follow-up processes as needed
  • Issue and monitor payments
  • Support preparation for audits filings and financial reporting requirements

Organizational administration and operations

  • Maintain clear well-organized financial and administrative systems and files
  • Provide logistical and administrative support to the staff team as needed
  • Support Board operations including meeting logistics document preparation and follow-up
  • Coordinate contracts invoices and payments with vendors and service providers
  • Support implementation of internal policies and procedures related to finance and administration

Events and logistical support

  • Support logistical planning for EDGE events including conferences retreats and in-person meetings
  • Research and book venues accommodation flights and service providers
  • Coordinate with staff and external partners to ensure smooth operational delivery of events
  • Support travel and expense processes for staff Board members and participants

Collaboration and shared leadership

  • Work closely with all members of the EDGE team in a collaborative non-hierarchical environment
  • Participate in shared planning reflection and accountability processes
  • Contribute to strengthening EDGEs internal systems in ways that align with its political values and care-centered culture

Qualifications Skills & Experience

As part of a small transnational and values-driven team were looking for someone who combines strategic focus with relational sensitivity. Were looking for someone who:

  • Has experience coordinating finances budgets and administrative processes in a nonprofit network or values-driven organization
  • Is comfortable working with budgets financial tracking and basic financial reporting
  • Has experience collaborating with external bookkeepers or accountants
  • Brings strong organizational skills attention to detail and reliability
  • Can communicate financial information clearly and accessibly to non-financial colleagues and Board members
  • Is comfortable working remotely and autonomously while staying connected through shared rhythms and accountability
  • Thrives in small teams where roles are interconnected and evolving
  • Approaches finance and administration as enabling functions that support people politics and purpose

Preferred experience:

  • 3 years of relevant experience in finance operations or administration in the not-for-profit sector
  • Familiarity with nonprofit financial compliance ideally in a U.S.-registered organization
  • Additional language skills beyond English are an asset
