Position Summary:
The EHS Coordinator will report to the Plant Manager but also take direction from the Corporate Environmental Health and Safety team. The EHS Coordinator position is responsible for the facilities environmental health and safety program while creating a Safety focused culture. They deploy and champion policies procedures and processes that align with Novolexs Human Performance (HP) initiative and ensure compliance with all local state and federal standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists leadership in developing strategies for all facility areas including both operational and office environments to mitigate safety hazards and improve performance.
- Assists leadership in coaching and mentoring managing performance and rewarding employees.
- Assists leadership in developing deploying and monitoring the EHS Management System in a manner that ensures compliance to Federal State Local Customer and align with Corporate EHS requirements.
- Assists leadership in implantation and administering an internal EHS hazard/risk register assessment and compliance auditing process designed to validate alignment to best known standards and practices and compliance with regulatory obligations.
- Assists leadership in development implementation and institutionalizing a process to identify and eliminate high risk occurrences through review of historical incident data leading/warning indicators identified error traps plant process and equipment audits; job and activity observations; and highly specified JSAs and SWIs.
- Assists leadership on multiple projects simultaneously with a hands-on approach in a fast-paced environment to achieve the desired outcomes and results.
- Assists leadership with the Human Performance (HP) initiative ensuring the plant is effectively implementing and using the methodology.
- Assists leadership in auditing hazardous energy sources and other identified hazards to determine appropriate risk mitigation.
- Assists leadership in development and implementation emergency response procedures first responders security and other EHS related programs and projects to ensure the implantation of industry best practices.
- Assists leadership in organizing and deployment of employee Safety Committee; holding meetings to increase awareness.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Federal State and Local Environmental Health and Safety standards.
- 2 years experience implementing EHS standards training and legal compliance in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects under tight timelines; works with a sense of urgency.
- Displays excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to establish and maintain effective channels of communication internally externally and at all levels.
- Strong organizational interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Proficient in use of MS Office (Outlook Word Excel and PowerPoint) program.
