One of ten districts across Louisiana MHSD was created by the state legislature in 2003 to oversee the delivery of publicly funded community-based mental health addictive disorders and developmental disabilities services to our area. MHSD serves adults children and families of Orleans Plaquemines and St. Bernard particular we serve residents who are uninsured or Medicaid eligible/covered individuals suffering from mental illness individuals suffering from addiction and individuals who have developmental and/or intellectual disabilities.
Metropolitan Human Services District (MHSD) is seeking a detail-oriented and mission-drivenMedical Certification Specialist to support individuals receiving waiver services through the Developmental Disabilities Office. This position plays a critical role in reviewing certifying and monitoring Medicaid waiver services to ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines while promoting person-centered care health and safety. The Medical Certification Specialist collaborates with support coordination agencies providers and internal teams participates in critical incident review processes and provides technical guidance related to certification service planning and waiver requirements.

Minimum Qualifications
A current Louisiana license in a health services field health regulation field or social services field plus two years of experience in hospital or nursing home administration health services health regulation or social services; OR
A bachelors degree plus two years of experience in hospital or nursing home administration health services health regulation or social services; OR
A masters degree in a health services field health regulation field or a social services field plus one year of experience in hospital or nursing home administration health services health regulation or social services.

Job Duties:
The incumbent performs advanced level duties involving review interpretation and decisions of certification/eligibility for Medicaid expenditures for individuals seeking home and community based Waivers (HCBS) in accordance with federal and state Medicaid guidelines.
The incumbent must be knowledgeable of policy/procedures in accordance with the separate HCBS waivers currently being administered in Louisiana: New Opportunities Waiver Childrens Choice Waiver Supports Waiver and Residential Options Waiver.

Career Progression:This position may be filled as aMedical Certification Specialist 1 or 2determined by the qualifications of the candidate selected.Compensation:The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
