Position Title: East and West District Athletic Director
Responsible To: Director of Operations
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in education or related field required.
Three (3) years of successful classroom teaching coaching and/or athletic director experience preferred.
Basic Function: Work with building principals and district staff to promote and facilitate an
effective athletic program
Performance Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership to the athletic department. Advocates for the proper place of athletics in the overall educational process
- Encourages the overall improvement of al athletic programs.
- Collaborateswith the Jessamine Athletic Adviosry Council to develop comprehensive and balanced athletic programs that further develop interest and talents in athletic activities.
- Collaborates with the building principals in the selection evaluation and supervision of the coaches and athletic trainers.
- Collaborates and assists building principals in the supervision of athletic events.
- Fosters good school-parent relations by maintaining communications relative to events expectations for students parents and coaches rules and regulations
- Develops and maintains a sound working relationship/partnership with community organizations and media supporting teams and individual student-athlete
- Responsible for the organization of athletic events and coordination of a district master schedule of all athletic event
- Works with coaches to schedule officials for all home contests.
- Oversees school athletic funding expenditures and works with coaches and principals in the development of athletic budgets.
- Approves purchases of athletic equipment.
- Makes recommendations to appropriate school officials for the preparation and upgrading of facilities.
- Assures compliance with Title IX as described in the Title IX manual and KHSAA Guidelines.
- Assures compliance with rules and regulations of the Kentucky High School Athletics Association (KHSAA).
- Oversees the paraprofessional and volunteer coaching staff to ensure that all KHSAA and district personnel guidelines are met (e.g. annual CPR updates First Aid training attendance at required trainings including Medical Symposia etc.)
- Administers Board policies related to athletics including the random drug testing policy for student athletics.
- Oversees the implementation of booster clubs at each school.
- Works with principals and counselors to update and maintain information for the NCAA Initial Eligibility Clearinghouse.
- Addresses complaints and resolves problems.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director of Operations and ensures all items are addressed in the Coaches Handbook.
