Your New Role:

Were seeking an experienced and motivated Procurement and Contracts Officer to provide parental leave cover within our Governance and Information Services team. This role provides crucial support in the managing of daily operations of Councils contracting and procurement activities. This role focuses on ensuring compliance with local government regulations achieving value for money and supporting the effective delivery of council services.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Providing expert advice support and strategic input as to procurement and contract management to Council departments
  • Maintaining comprehensive and accurate records of all contracts and related documentation.
  • Ensuring contracts are compliant with local government regulations policies and standards.
  • Maintenance and continuous improvement of existing processes and templates for procurement and contract management - including request for tenders quotations expressions of interest agreements contracts contract management etc
  • Support the monitoring management and performance reporting of the above activities.

About You:

The successful candidate will need a proactive and strategic approach to contract management ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and compliance with relevant regulations. You should have strong negotiation communication and organisational skills along with proficiency in procurement and contract management software. Specific Local Government experience is preferred but not essential.

Additionally you will possess:

  • Relevant qualifications and/or equivalent experience in Contract Management Procurement Business or a related discipline.
  • Experience in general procurement including working with procurement principles and purchasing and supply contract requirements.
  • Experience with tender processes and evaluations.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with Australian Standard and Government contracts.
  • Experience delivering short- and long-term financial reporting with strong capability in trend analysis and identifying efficiency and cost-saving opportunities.
