DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

Harborview Facilities Engineering: Our goal is to respond in a timely manner to your building maintenance needs; to make alterations and repairs to the systems needed to maintain patient care and a healing environment at Harborview.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

• Become a part of an exceptional team supporting mission-critical care at our regions only Level 1 Trauma and Verified Burn center and King Countys safety net hospital

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBLIITIES

• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on all types of mechanical equipment such as electrical drive motors laundry kitchen and air-conditioning equipment; change oil grease change or clean filters drive belts sprockets shafts and bearings to ensure proper operation
• Perform maintenance operation and repair of electrical mechanical and structural systems of buildings and utility distribution;
• Operate hand and power tools in a skilled manner; fabricate material and equipment in workshops
• Remodel and construct facilities in accordance with project requirements; assist in the preparation of engineering data under the direction of an engineer;
• Repair windows doors screens floors floor coverings and painted surfaces; install maintain and repair electrical connections switches circuits electrical equipment thermostats and valves

REQUIREMENTS

• Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as a journey worker OR full-journey status in a union; OR four years applicable work experience. Vocational training may be substituted for work experience on a year-for-year basis.
• Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements such as a license certification and/or registration
