Physical Therapist (PT) Part Time
Position Summary:
The Physical Therapist (PT) provides services to students with physical disabilities or impairments by creating individualized therapy plans to improve mobility strength and function. The PT collaborates with other staff and provides support to enhance students physical abilities and participation in daily school activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assess students physical needs and develop personalized therapy programs to enhance motor skills coordination and strength.
- Provide therapeutic interventions for students with physical impairments to improve their physical function and quality of life.
- Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with physical disabilities.
- Collaborate with teachers special education staff and parents to implement therapy plans.
- Train students on mobility aids equipment and adaptive technology.
- Monitor and track student progress and modify therapy plans as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding physical therapy services in schools.
- Document patient progress and communicate findings to parents and school staff.
- Educate school staff on physical therapy practices and safety guidelines for working with students with physical disabilities.
- Contributes to planning safe transportation of students with disabilities.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Masters or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy.
- Licensed Physical Therapist in the state of South Carolina.
- Experience working with children preferably in an educational or school setting.
- Strong communication problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of IEP development and state regulations for student care.
Physical Requirements
Physical ability to execute job responsibilities that include squatting getting on and off the floortransferring and/or lifting students and/or equipment as well as managing equipment. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively; sit stand walk and use hands to handle or feel objects tools or controls. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Work Environment
This position operates in a professional school environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers phones photocopiers filing cabinets and instructional materials. Noise level is typically moderate but can be higher during student-centered activities or events. Occasional local travel for school-related functions may be required. The position at times must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff students parents staff members of external agencies and the community.
