Role Overview
The Factory Operations & Production Manager is responsible for overseeing end-to-end factory operations ensuring efficient production planning disciplined execution and full compliance with operational safety and regulatory standards. Reporting directly to the Managing Director this role translates strategic objectives into day-to-day operational performance.
This position requires a hands-on proactive leader capable of operating independently managing multidisciplinary teams supporting financial and administrative processes and maintaining close coordination with executive management in a fast-paced growth-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Factory Operations Management
- Report directly to and work closely with the Managing Director to support operational execution and decision-making.
- Plan coordinate and implement daily weekly and monthly production schedules ensuring timely and efficient execution by factory staff.
- Oversee end-to-end material flow including raw material procurement processing operations finished goods storage and outbound shipments.
- Provide proactive operational leadership by identifying potential bottlenecks operational risks and improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency and productivity.
- Foster teamwork accountability and operational discipline across factory teams.
- Lead the commissioning trial runs and full operation of the biochar production unit scheduled for installation later in 2025.
2. Reporting & Executive Coordination
- Maintain accurate and timely reporting to management including:
Daily production and operational updates
Weekly work plans and progress reports
Monthly production and performance summaries
- Utilize Google Drive and cloud-based inventory and reporting tools to ensure transparency and data accuracy.
- Support executive management by executing related operational assignments and ad-hoc initiatives as required.
3. Equipment Logistics & Financial Support
- Oversee the installation operation and routine maintenance of factory equipment including nut dehullers cold-press expellers milling machines and related processing assets.
- Support financial and administrative operations by coordinating with the accounting team on:
Payment processing
Accurate recordkeeping
Proper documentation of all procurement production and sales transactions
- Manage logistics to ensure cost-effective timely movement of raw materials supplier payments and customer deliveries.
4. Human Resource & Workforce Management
- Lead human resource management for up to 15 factory staff in the Rift Valley region including:
Recruitment and hiring of factory personnel while maintaining cost efficiency
Staff scheduling and leave management
Promoting high morale discipline and zero labor unrest
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards through staff training and enforcement of safety protocols.
5. Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
- Ensure full compliance with relevant regulatory and statutory requirements including:
Environmental regulations (e.g. NEMA)
Product and operational standards (e.g. KEBS)
- Maintain accurate operational environmental and compliance records to support audits and inspections.
- Uphold operational best practices and standards required by local authorities and industry regulators.
