The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention protection and preparation as well as the care custody and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody healthcare and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Description of Work

Salary Range: $48222.00-$84388.00

The responsibility of this position includes disseminating and interpreting rules regulations and orders from prison management. This position conducts frequent inspections of housing units and other buildings grounds and posts to ascertain that officers are alert that discipline is maintained and that assignments are being carried out effectively and supervise Correctional Lieutenant IIIs. Implements disciplinary measures with inmates and employees on infractions of rules; investigates complaints of inmates and makes reports of such actions to higher level officials. Works to prevent or resolve disorders such as: assaults riots fires and escapes. Prepares reports on inmates pertaining to their behavior attitudes and work records for use on the inmate classification committee. Organizes and conducts training programs for employees. Perform other duties as required. Employees may serve as the Officer-in-Charge.

Candidates must meet the requirements for criminal justice certification including U.S. Citizenship
