Senior Imaging Technologist Imaging Technologist (Mon-Sunhr Shifts) Diagnostic Radiology

The Radiology Department intends to hire for two positions at either the Imaging Technologist classification or Senior Imaging Technologist based on the qualifications of the successful candidate. Please indicate in your cover letter the position you wish to be considered for or indicate both.

The University of Iowa Health Care department of Radiology is seeking a Senior Imaging Technologist to perform and teach specialized general diagnostic radiography procedures utilizing complex imaging equipment with close patient monitoring during to perform general radiography procedures in multiple areas within the hospital including Adult and Pediatric Radiology emergency room OR fluoroscopy and orthopedic clinic.

Duties Include:

• Operate adjust and manipulate computerized electronic and mechanical components of computerized axial tomographic angiographic magnetic resonance systems and multiple modalities of other general diagnostic equipment.
• Maintain operate and trouble-shoot and report equipment failures.
• Instruct trainees students and staff on equipment operation and safety precautions.
• Explain examination process to patients.
• Ensure patients welfare and assist physician with medical procedures
• Perform patient care techniques including skin preparation I.V. placement vital sign monitoring and recording and basic life support; prepare and administer contrast material to patients.
• Maintain records and results of examinations and archive computer data.
• Plan daily regular and STAT scheduling for efficient room utilization.
• Participate in on-call coverage.
• Assist with inventory ordering supplies and maintaining quality assurance in accordance with hospital departmental and clinical unit standards.
• Participate in phantom human and/or animal research.
• Maintain knowledge of technical developments software updates and related subjects by attending meetings continuing education programs and participation in professional organizations and/or review journals or publications.
• Perform quality assurance procedures and evaluate systems performance.
• Instruct and/or evaluate the clinical abilities and performance of Radiology Technology or sub-specialty students on a clinical rotation.
• Maintain effective working relationships with faculty staff students and the public.

Schedule:Four 10- hr shifts with rotating days off 2:00 pm-12:30 am. (4-week rotation includes one Saturday and one Sunday). This position includes rotating holidays and on-call.

Pay Grade: 5

Pay Structure SEIU: Department of Radiologywill be filling this position at one of two levels. The Imaging Technologist classification salary is 4 and the Senior Imaging Technologistclassification salary is must indicate in your cover letter the level of classification (Imaging Technologistand/or Senior Imaging Technologist) you wish to be considered for or indicate required qualifications for additional information.
