Job Summary:
- Responsible for maintaining hospital standards of sanitation cleanliness and aesthetic appearance. Performs a variety of housekeeping duties including cleaning fixtures and fittings disinfecting horizontal and vertical surfaces preparing bed sleep surfaces and removing waste and linens in accordance with established protocols and infection control standards.
Job Responsibilities:
Pre-Shift Preparation
Arrive prepared and ready to begin work.
Wear designated/approved uniform including official CHOP ID prior to clocking in.
Accurately record start time using the official CHOP Time and Attendance System.
Verify daily assignment with immediate supervisor.
Ensure all supplies needed for the entire shift are available.
Inspect equipment prior to use to ensure safe and proper operation.
Cleaning and Sanitation Duties
Maintain all assigned areas to the required level of cleanliness following established protocols including infection control procedures.
Clean soft floor surfaces using dry and wet methods (vacuuming spot cleaning hand-held machines etc.).
Replenish assigned supplies (toilet paper paper towels tissues hand soap lotion etc.).
Damp dust and disinfect all environmental surfaces fixtures fittings and both horizontal and vertical surfaces.
Clean unit-based equipment such as monitors TVs patient control panels cribs and beds.
Empty remove clean and reline all waste and linen containers according to proper protocols.
Strip remove clean and prepare sleep surfaces (beds cribs etc.) with clean linens per established procedures.
Follow all notification protocols related to patient discharges and cleaning requests.
Equipment and Safety
Operate manual and electrical equipment (vacuum cleaners buffers high-speed burnishers etc.) in accordance with safe work practices.
Use hospital-approved cleaning agents and chemicals following all safety guidelines and protocols.
Report maintenance issues unsafe conditions or special needs to the supervisor promptly.
Move furniture as necessary to complete cleaning tasks and return items to their original location upon completion.
End-of-Shift Responsibilities
Complete assigned work schedule and shift.
Ensure closets carts and all used equipment are left clean and in proper working condition per department policy.
Clock out using the official CHOP Time and Attendance System within five minutes of shift end (unless extended by supervisor request).
Perform additional duties as assigned.

Professional demeanor and attitude.
Ability to interact effectively with the public and hospital staff.
Basic math skills for interpreting and mixing chemical ratios.
