BASIC JOB FUNCTION

The Maintainer under supervision will perform preventative maintenance and repairs on HVAC systems including refrigeration systems cooling towers steam and hot water boiler plants air distribution controls and building management systems as well as perform related work.

Additionally this position supports through actions and conduct NYBGs Inclusion Diversity Equity and Accessibility initiatives and helps to build and maintain an inclusive organization culture throughout the institution.

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform related work in and around all Garden facilities including equipment diagnostics and repair; emergency response to equipment failure and safety compliance.
Perform all types of general mechanical room maintenance including carpentry plumbing. electrical painting masonry and specifically HVAC in all Garden facilities.
Performs related work as required by the NYBG within all on-site and off-site facilities including special projects events and temporary places of assembly.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Graduate or GED certificate from trade school in HVAC/R or 3-5 years in related position in the HVAC/Rindustry
A Type II EPA Certification for reclamation of refrigerants
A Valid drivers license required
A NYFD Refrigeration License preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

Ability to move over 30 pounds

WORK SCHEDULE

Sunday Thursday 12AM - 8 AM
Evening and afternoon shift work required
