What We Offer

The City and County of Denver offers competitive pay commensurate with education and experience. Although the full pay range is posted the target hiring range is $22.53-$25.50/ hr. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but are not limited to:

DOTIs Transportation Division develops reviews evaluates implements and supports the design of transportation system improvements

As a Utility Worker II you will:

• Work on a Heavy Construction Signals team or a Signs and Markings team

• Perform semi-skilled and light to heavy physical labor on a variety of construction maintenance and repair projects

• Operation of light weight motorized equipment and hand and power tools

• Assist with general labor safety and related work tasks on a crew with Equipment Operators

• Cross Train with Signal Techs and Equipment Operators

• Operate equipment such as box truck auger truck dump trucks Mini Excavators and other heavy equipment after CDL is obtained

• Place and remove barricades cones and other traffic control and safety devices in and around work areas for construction and maintenance projects in accordance with traffic regulation requirements

• Participate in snow removal duties.

Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience skills and characteristics:

• General construction knowledge

• Driving experience

• Conduit piping or plumbing experience

• Have a valid Drivers License

• Willingness to work in inclement weather road environments dust fumes etc.

• Desire to follow a career path and promote to other positions within the department such as Equipment Operator I Equipment Operator II etc. (We provide on the job training!)

Required Minimum Qualifications

• Education Requirement: None

• Experience Requirement: One (1) year of experience performing unskilled labor work.

• Education/Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirement

• License/Certifications: Requires a valid Drivers License at the time of application.

• Requires a valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL B) with appropriate endorsements within six (6) months of employment and must be kept current as a condition of employment. By position requires a CDL Tanker Endorsement within 6 months of hire. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment
