Job Summary

Job Objective & Safety/Security Sensitive Designation

Serves on a candidate rating panel and reviews candidate videos to assign numerical scores to oral responses given during Entry Firefighter Recruit Structured Interviews.

Rater training will be Monday February 9th at 1pm-3pm.
Scoring is scheduled for 2/10/2026 through 2/12/2026 8am-5pm.
No experience is required as training is provided.

Essential Functions

  1. Actively listen to candidates verbal answers given to question or scenario as presented.
  2. Accurately assess candidates answer based on dimension represented by question or scenario.
  3. Document candidates oral responses accurately and objectively.
  4. Use judgment to assign numerical ratings to candidates responses based on parameters outlined in scoring guide.
  5. Calculate final scores based on numerical ratings assigned.
  6. Interact with other members of rating panel to ensure scores are assigned in a fair objective manner unilaterally.
  7. Run electronic or mechanical equipment i.e. laptops timers cameras and/or audio recorders.

Minimum Qualifications Additional Requirements and Supervisory Responsibilities

  1. Rater Panels will consist of at least 1 representative of the Little Rock Fire Department. LRFD Representative must be a current employee with five or more years of service within the department.
  2. Other City personnel who have met probationary period in position and participation has been approved by supervisor.
  3. City of Little Rock residents.
  4. All final rater selections are contingent upon the approval of the Fire Chief.

Application Requirements

To serve as a rater in the Structured Interview process you should be available to participate in a rater training session and then be available to serve at least one full day.
